The Well of Dark Matter

Synopsis:
It is the elliptical Galaxy Amulet. Monstrous in size in comparison to other galaxies, at its center is a starless expanse, one hundred thousand light years across, an expanse of condensed space time, the Well of Dark Matter.
Surrounding it are twelve great star faring civilizations, many of them in a constant state of tension with each other, a galaxy on the brink of war for untold millennia. But something stirs in the Well, something that will demand of them a cease to their hostilities against one another, a threat that will demand they work together as one force, or become extinct, destroyed separately and utterly by that something in the Well.
The story begins in the outer quadrant of Virgo, the Virgo Cluster, where a black hole has appeared along the fringe territories of their cusp with the Leo. The black hole quickly becomes the least of their concerns.
