Synopsis:
Typically Male chronicles the life and times of a father and son duo that are perpetually struggling through the basic challenges of each day. You will rarely find a woman in this strip. A woman would be helpful. In a “Typically Male” fashion, these two are utterly helpless. Daily chores such as grocery shopping, running the washing machine, doing the dishes, cleaning house, or dressing oneself for an event become delightfully humorous when a male is put in charge. Chester and Dean have only each other in this vast and complicated world. Sometimes this is a blessing; sometimes it is an evil curse.
The characters in this strip consist of only two people.
Chester is the son of Dean. He never moved out of the house and never married. He lives with and cares for his lively but terribly confused father, Dean. In his spare time, Chester enjoys doing the bare minimum to get by, trying to find that special lady, and thinking of ways to utilize spare time.
Dean is Chester’s father. Dean prefers to spend his time being a retired old codger and perpetuating an infinite string of short-lived part time jobs. His inability to do much of anything and limitless capacity to exercise little or no common sense have turned the tables in such a way that the roles of father and son have been reversed, thus increasing the smiles exponentially. Dean’s hobbies include shaking his fist at things, misunderstanding situations, and being a tightwad.
